A Miracle that changed the world!

Our Founding Fathers said that these 28 Principles of Freedom must be understood and perpetuated by every people who desire peace, prosperity, and freedom. Liberty or Death? That is the Question

Many have heard or read the famous quote by Patrick Henry, ".......give me liberty of give me death!".  But do we know anything about the rest of that speech?  Patrick Henry, Sam Adams and the other founders of the Sons of Liberty were the ones who I believe made possible, the Revolution.  At St. Johns Church, Patrick Henry called for Virginia and every other community to raise and have ready a militia, ready to respond to an invader, made up, not of soldiers but of citizens, united in the cause of freedom and liberty.   Please read his whole speech and see if your heart does not swell with the want to protect this liberty that came and has been defended at a steep price. Do we remember?

Today is July 4th, a time when most people get a paid day off, trips to the lake are planned, and grills are fired up for delicious bbq's.  Everyone waves a flag and we usually go watch fireworks.  This day is more than that.  Most of us know that, and most of the people I call friends recognize that what we celebrate on the 4th of July was an impossibility and was unfathomable at the time.  That the upstart state representatives, that had formed the loose Continental Congress, would have the gall to declare that the people here on this continent had the right   to " dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them ...". Wave the Flag of our Nation, but know why it is important and teach your children why we respect the Flag and all it represents.  Let them know what it represents.  Let us honor ...

What 2nd Amendment rights?

Just like in our Nations Capital, the fact that the Supreme Court deems the second amendment a right of ALL United States Citizens, Chicago says "up yours" to its citizenry!  Look over these proposals carefully, they are exactly what Obama and the liberal thugs who are running our government want across all of these United States. Awakening

I have not posted since I first found out about my brother being killed in action.  I would be lying if I did not say that his death has not had a deep and devastating affect on me.  Jake was my little brother, but he was also a friend.  Aside from my wife, he knew me probably better than anyone.  We grew up together, sharing a lot of the same experiences and being shaped by a lot of the same influences.  It never mattered how long it had been between visits, a lot never had to be said.  I treasure the personal and private conversations where he would share a lot of the buried and not so pretty moments that a soldier has to endure.  And then we could laugh and poke fun at some of the lighter moments.  I have never been a soldier, but through my brother came to understand what it takes to be both a good soldier and a good friend to a soldier. Another soldier gives his everything for me!

Yesterday I got a call that I never wanted to get.  My mother called to let me know that an Army chaplain and two Officers arrived with news of my brothers death.  Words do no justice to the anguish and pain that I felt and still feel.  Glen Jacob Whetten loved what he did and was good at it.  He had a desire to serve his country before he was even old enough to enlist.  He joined right after turning 18 and left for boot camp at Fort Benning soon after High School graduation from South High School in Phoenix, AZ. He was first assigned to the 24th Infantry Division(I think) out of Hawaii.  There he became jump qualified and of course expert marksman.  His goal was to become an Ranger, an Airborne Ranger!  Those dreams were realized and he later was re-assigned to the 82nd, an Airborne Ranger Division.
