Today is July 4th, a time when most people get a paid day off, trips to the lake are planned, and grills are fired up for delicious bbq's.  Everyone waves a flag and we usually go watch fireworks.  This day is more than that.  Most of us know that, and most of the people I call friends recognize that what we celebrate on the 4th of July was an impossibility and was unfathomable at the time.  That the upstart state representatives, that had formed the loose Continental Congress, would have the gall to declare that the people here on this continent had the right   to " dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them ...". Just a quick note on what I heard in Obama's state of the union speech:  A whole lot of what the American people want to hear and nothing about what his real plans are, unless you are talking about his strict "sanctions" on Iran.  Heck, maybe he'll just give them the evil eye.  Maybe I am just sick of politics.  I did hear the words he said and noticed that there was spin.  Yes, even in the state of the union.  So much politicking, trying to force republicans to vote for his agenda, "because you can't just vote against everything".  It is as bad as when he claimed that the reason Massachussetts voted in a Republican on a platform of conservatism and smaller government was because the voters there were angry with the Bush Administration and wanted to send a message.  Is anyone even buying this anymore?  He is starting to believe he really is the second coming of Christ.  He really must. Another "Gun Free Zone" Tragedy. Apparently it’s not enough for our government that the heroes in America’s armed forces risk their lives overseas defending our freedom. These days, our soldiers aren't even safe here at home stationed on secure military bases. On November 5th, a lone gunman murdered 13 fully-trained, ready to deploy soldiers, and wounded 29 more, in the most shocking terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11. How was Nidal Hasan, a psychologist, able to take down so many trained soldiers? Because the government thinks its better to keep it’s armed service members unarmed . . . That’s right. Our military men and woman are banned from carrying the weapons they are trained and trusted to use in the heat of combat. It IS time for a revolution in America! Thomas Jefferson, a true patriot, once stated in a letter, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. The White House has projected a cumulative $9 trillion deficit between 2010 and 2019, while the Congressional Budget Office estimates a more optimistic $7.1 trillion, based upon the expiration of Bush tax cuts. What this means is that Washington's out-of-control spending likely will turn the nation's already-staggering $11 trillion in debt into an astronomical $20 trillion. I don't know about anyone else, but I have just about had it with those who are at the political head of this country! When I was first able to vote, I voted for George Bush. Not "W", but his father. After watching Reagan for 8 years I was excited to carry on where he was leaving off. I have never before wavered in my support given to the republican party. I knew that deep conservative principles was where my loyalties should lie. Where have those principle gone? Believe it or not, I have become wiser the older I have become. As Reagan said, Trust but Verify! I have been trusting "republicans" with MY government without really verifying what they stood for or where they stood on the issues. The Sons of Liberty In Boston in early summer of 1765 a group of shopkeepers and artisans who called themselves The Loyal Nine, began preparing for agitation against the Stamp Act. In the first military coup in Central America since the end of the cold war, soldiers stormed the presidential palace in the capital, Tegucigalpa, early in the morning, disarming the presidential guard, waking Mr. Zelaya and putting him on a plane to Costa Rica. Mr. Zelaya, a leftist aligned with President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela, angrily denounced the coup as illegal. “I am the president of Honduras,” he insisted at the airport in San José, Costa Rica, still wearing his pajamas.
