Obama to serve as President with no Term Limits?

I wish saying I told you so actually made me feel better about this. But it does not! Apparently two weeks before Obama even took the oath as President, and on the first day of the first session of the 111th congress, the following bill was introduced:

HJ 5 IH

111th CONGRESS
1st Session
H. J. RES. 5

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
January 6, 2009

Mr. SERRANO introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

JOINT RESOLUTION

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:

`Article--
`The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.'.
END
If this does not scare you then you scare me even more than Obama. And that is saying something! Now, as of yet I do not think this bill has any co-sponsors and hopefully there will be enough people watching this as to keep it from going forward. But this is what we are facing. Now that the liberals are in power they will abuse that power to try and stay in power. At the very least they will try and limit the ability anyone else has in having a voice of opposition.(the fairness doctrine)
Keep your wits about you and do not roll over! We are still a government of the people and by the people. Take a stand and demand better. If you do not get it, get rid of those in power! It really is that simple. We must educate our friends, neighbors and co-workers. Together we cannot be stopped. Divided and kept indifferent, we lose everything!

Unfortunately very little this administration seems to surprise me any more. I can't help but see scary similarities between the campaign of The Great and Powerful Obama and the rise to power of Il Duce in Italy in the early 1900's. Just because someone gets the most votes does not make that person the best qualified, nor the best to protect the Constitution.
Look at two recent events. Obama proposes to cap executive pay. Next Congressman Barney Frank from Mass rails that ALL executives, not only those receiving TARP funds should have their pay controlled by congress! We are at the edge of the cliff, and most of America is running full speed ahead.
We are now not merely taking baby steps, but moving by leaps and bounds toward a government regime which will control individual lives and freedoms as completely as any of the 'isms' of the middle to late 20th century.
We ignore the warning signs at our peril!

One guy introduces a Constitutional Amendment and you worry that (1) it would ever be passed -- not a chance and (2) that it would deprive us of our liberty, when of course it merely allows George W. Bush to run for another term. (Clinton too, of course.)

It applies to these two guys far more than to Obama, who can run for another term without a Constitutional Amendment.

So, I think maybe you are worrying that this guy thinks that Obama will be so popular that he will win a second term and then it would be good to have a Constitutional Amendment in place so he can have a third.

Which, of course, is silly. Obama isn't likely to be that popular, and if he is, we can worry about it in seven or eight years.

If the liberal leaning media keeps up the propoganda on Obama as the President who can do no wrong, then this IS the time to worry about constitutional amendments. There is no way Obama, if taken on his merits alone, should have ever been nominated let alone elected as president.

Sen. 'flip-flop' Kerry would make more sense as a nomination. And I can't stand him. But he is not given the free pass that Obama is. I can't remember a time in history where there was more 'hype'. And Hype is all it is. Unfortunately, now this liberal President and his liberal henchmen are strongarming a 'spending' bill that will enslave all of our grandchildren. And why? To pay off all his liberal based supporters, and to give those on welfare a raise at the expense to the tax-payer.

If the media does not come around, then we should all be scared that the sheep out there will be led back to the polls to vote for more and more liberals who promise to give them more. But soon we will have no more to take, and then what? This can't go on forever......and they know it!

Bills like this are introduced basically every session, usually by a member of whichever team's guy is in charge at the moment. Happened under Bush, too. Happens all the time. Never goes anywhere.

If we keep up the dissent about Obama, it'll die before it's born like all the other incarnations of the bill.
